By closetidealist yay for my new cage shoes! :)

The last thing you want to do when it feels like a hundred degrees outside is to put on something dark and clingy. I don't know about you but those are my personal sentiments. This sack dress of sorts was just hanging in my closet waiting for the perfect hot day. I feel like this is going to be on constant rotation for the summer, never mind if its reminiscent of a lab coat, haha!

P.S I am in love with my new nude cage shoes from maimai! Thanks mai!xx

Sometime last week, my mom woke me up, saying we were going on the hunt for a place to build our very own beach house. This is where we ended up. I loved everything about it. Now if only money falls from the sky or certain financiers cooperate.. I am "the secreting" this one. :)

I finally got around to watching "Love in the Time of Cholera". I read the book months ago and found myself so in love with the story. Finding a dvd so I could see the story come to life was an entirely more challenging matter. Thank God for torrents!

I guess the story must've stuck in my subconscious more than I thought because I found myself craving for something "old world" to wear as I was getting dressed the other day. I ended up with this vintage top with embroidered detail (from my mom, i think). The lead character did her hair up in braids too, so I guess this was my version :p

I'm excited. My sister maimai will be home from uni in less than a week. I'm not only looking forward to some shoes (hint hint), but also having a resident photographer and make-up artist at home with me! Yay!

These photos are a blast from the past- taken from the last time that she was home, from a random night out. A friend was in a fashion show and we were there to cheer her on :) Maimai ended up having her photo taken with Proj runway Phil. contestant and that made her night.

My sister is crazy about make-up. When she's home, I suddenly get really lazy to put mine on myself. I guess all those times of hard work and sacrifice (lol) have made her realize her true calling! She wants to be a make-up artist now and has even started a blog about it! Take a look at musingsofafrustratedmua ! I may be a little biased but i'm beyond impressed! go mai! :)

Matching in the Woods

Great minds think alike. My friend cy and I say that when we find ourselves in matching/ coordinating outfits without meaning to do it! We've also managed to acquire a number of items that are identical without meaning to. I swear we don't mean to match..

A couple of weeks ago, we again found ourselves coordinated on a photo shoot held in the woods. We both came in flouncy, nude colored skirts. Maybe the mathy-matchy stems from all the talking, skyping and perusing through the same books, magazines and blogs. I'm labelling it unconcious/sub-concious osmosis, and I will explain it all when I've finally figured it out, if i ever do..

This Old Dress

Confession: I love little old lady dresses, and 50s housewife ones too. The problem is, they sometimes make me look like a little old lady, or they're really not appropriate for the warm weather! I still can't stop buying them though. So here, what I do, I send them in for a little revamp. I either just cut them up and transform the poofy skirt into something resembling a mini, as I did with this number right here, or cut off the sleeves, or just something!

I got this dress for about a dollar (or less I think) and yet, it's one of my favorite things to wear! I swear, little old ladies are so cool, right next to 50s housewives of course! :)

**I'm wearing a thrifted floral dress, my mom's old coin belt, my sister's Phillip Stein, gold and bronze cuff from India, my pink Balenciaga box bag, and yellow flats from CMG**

Stealing from the Boyfriend's Closet

**striped shirt from cottonon, thrifted vest, navy shorts were a present, checked short from jayjays, boat shoes from robertson's,jeans from efekt and capoeira rope belt**

My boyfriend and I had one of those days when there was nothing really particularly interesting to do, so I decided to take on a pet project that had been brewing in my head for quite a while! I've always wanted to challenge myself and see if I could survive and still look somewhat presentable (and cute) if I only had his clothes to work with. I ransacked his suitcase and thought the best way to go about my hunt was to come up with a theme. I ended up with Nautical Inspired- that was quite an easy theme to pin down considering majority of his clothes were red, white and blue! Also, the rope belt he uses for capoeira helped cinch the whole thing (pun intended :p)

Anyway, the results..

Night out:Creative Cebu

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
By closetidealist

I trooped to the Terraces last Saturday to meet up with a bunch of friends for the launch of Creative Cebu! As the name suggests, Creative Cebu was a showcase of the city's creative industry. While I was there to check out fashion exhibit, and to show my support to a friend who was taking part in the fashion show, I also got to see what the other sectors were up to.

Cebu is famous for furniture, and the fashion designers here are also becoming popular for their distinct style. However, there are so many other sectors that hardly anyone ever knows about! it was eye opening for me to find out that we have indie film makers, musicians, and artists, all struggling to get their craft noticed out there!

It may be a little early to say, considering this is just the second post for this blog, but I'm hopeful that somewhere along the way, closetidealist will have enough of a voice, and an audience, to promote all those sectors that are all but ignored. It sounds a little ambitious, but hey, the word idealist is found in this blog's name, and you'd hardly be surprised to find the contributors (especially this one) as such!

on another note, thank you so much for dropping by! add me up, follow me, comment all you like, and tell your friends too! i don't bite, and id love to hear from all of you! i promise i won't bore you with lectures and tirades! more fashion to come!!!:)

later! <3

***** i'm wearing a gray asymmetrical dress i had made myself, gojane.com bondage sandals, faux snakeskin clutch. thanks to mikey for the photo *****

New Beginnings

By closetidealist *jason (my blog administrator, punching bag,24/7 savior and favorite person in the world (on most days) oh, he's the bf too:p) and the closet idealist*

Why the new blog?

Everybody grows up, even spoiled vain bratty princesses. I would like to believe that I'm older now, and wiser, and have learnt some of life's lessons. The last year has pounded into my head that it's always better to send positive energy out into the universe, because when you do that, it sends more than its fair share back to you.

So instead of the gloom and doom that i was used to venting out in my last corner in cyberspace, I choose to now concentrate on things that make me smile, and things that make me happy. Shallow as it may seem, clothes, fashion and dressing up do just that for me. So does the beach, evident in my first set of posted pictures.

Expect to see just that and more on closetidealist, because not only is it a place where i call on the powers of the secret to send me items to fill up my ideal closet, it's also a space where i can be my cheerful, chirpy, positive and optimistic self, even if the whole world thinks its really uncool to be so. So obsess with me, surf with me, and let's see where this new wave takes us :)
